11/11/08 - Charleston’s Daniel Island to be New Home of Nationwide Tour’s Season-ending Golf Tournament Starting in 2009
DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. –The Daniel Island Club’s Ralston Creek golf course will be the new home of the PGA TOUR's Nationwide Tour Championship in 2009-2011. The tournament is the Nationwide Tour's final event each year, concluding the season-long competition to identify the 25 players who earn PGA TOUR cards for the following season based on the Tour's final money list. The first “Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island” will be broadcast live by the Golf Channel October 22-25, 2009.

CHARLESTON, S.C. –Charlotte-based developer Lincoln Harris has acquired commercial property within Carnes Crossroads -- the commercial corridor for the Daniel Island Company's new Carnes community in Goose Creek, South Carolina -- and has announced plans for the initial 15-acre phase of "The Market at Carnes Crossroads," a retail-oriented development. Anchored by a 48,756 square foot Harris Teeter grocery store (the first for this area of Charleston), the center will feature 60,000 square feet of specialty shops and restaurants, 25,000 square feet of office space and multiple outparcel operators. Lincoln Harris is the owner and developer of the Market at Carnes Crossroads and will be handling the leasing.

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. –Daniel Island Real Estate?s offering last week of 48 new homesites located on and near the Wando River has caught the attention of prospective buyers. Just five days after the release, 26 of the sites ? representing more than half of the offering ? are spoken for. The homesites are located in Old Landing, a special enclave within the island?s popular and conveniently-located Smythe Park neighborhood. Old Landing is the only new property offering planned for Daniel Island this year.

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. –Rick Vale has been named Director of Sales and Broker-in-Charge at Daniel Island Real Estate, the market leader for residential real estate sales on Daniel Island. Formerly a Daniel Island Real Estate sales associate, Vale replaces Dan Kingsbury, who recently accepted a position with a Columbia, S.C.-based builder and developer.
11/1/07 - Northwood Assembly and Northwood Academy Announce Plans to Build New Campus at Carnes in Goose Creek
CHARLESTON, S.C. –The Daniel Island Company has announced plans for the second important component of Carnes, its new community in Goose Creek. The Company has signed an agreement with Northwood Assembly and Northwood Academy for the development of a 60-acre campus that will eventually be home to a church, kindergarten and elementary school, child care center, upper school facility and administrative offices. The announcement follows recent news that Roper St. Francis Healthcare is purchasing a 60-acre tract within the Carnes community for future expansion.

CHARLESTON, S.C. –Daniel Island recently added to its growing list of accolades. For the second time in two years, Where to Retire magazine has selected this ten-year-old island town as one of “America’s 100 Best Master-Planned Communities,” as announced in the magazine’s July/August issue. Editors evaluated several hundred residential developments across the country to identify communities offering today’s retirees a well-rounded, active lifestyle. In the process, they identified several significant retirement and development trends that have long been showcased on Daniel Island.

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Daniel Island has been selected as one of ten winners of the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) 2007 Awards for Excellence, widely recognized internationally as the real estate and land planning industry’s most prestigious recognition program. In its 29th year, the awards program is the centerpiece of ULI’s efforts to identify and promote best practices in all types of real estate development. Awards Jury Chairman Lee T. Hanley announced the Awards for Excellence winners during the ULI’s Spring Council Forum in Chicago on May 11, 2007.
4/07 - Daniel Island Company Receives Second ‘Building With Trees’ Award from National Arbor Day Foundation
CHARLESTON, SC – The Daniel Island Club’s Ralston Creek course was chosen as one of only four recipients of the National Arbor Day Foundation’s 2007 “Building with Trees Award of Excellence.” The award recognized the efforts of The Daniel Island Company to protect and preserve trees during design and construction of the course, which opened in 2006.
