CHARLESTON, S.C.– In partnership with the City of Charleston, The Daniel Island Company is embarking on an ambitions plan for a public waterfront along the banks of the Wando River that will be a centerpiece of Daniel Island’s 20+ mile park and trail system and a new boating destination within the region. An approximate two-mile stretch of shoreline that runs just north and south of the Mark Clark Expressway is proposed to be home to a wide array of water-oriented recreational opportunities including a public access boat ramp, fishing pier and a full-service marina. Permit applications will be submitted to the Department of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management (OCRM) this week, and the permitting process is expected to take about a year.
