Frank Brumley’s extensive background in coastal real estate development includes executive positions at the Sea Pines Company and the Kiawah Island Company.  He also started and ran a full-service commercial real estate company, which for more than 20 years brokered numerous high-stakes projects throughout the Charleston region. In 1991 his firm was selected by the Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation to participate with a team of development advisors to create a master plan for the development of Daniel Island. In 1997, Brumley spearheaded an effort to purchase the property from the Guggenheim Foundation and formed The Daniel Island Company. The company has since been developing the property under the guidelines outlined in the island’s master plan.

Matthew Sloan.

Matthew R. Sloan
President

Matthew R. Sloan is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of The Daniel Island Company and its affiliates. Sloan has been actively involved in the development of the Daniel Island community since its inception. In 1992, he was part of the team that created the visionary master plan for the island. Sloan and the Company’s investment partners have emphasized a fiscally conservative philosophy and long-range vision for its development projects. A five-part development formula – residential, commercial/corporate, retail, civic and recreational – is designed to result in vibrant, well-rounded communities where people live, work, shop, learn and play.

William McKenzie

William McKenzie
Vice President, Development

Bill McKenzie is responsible for setting the strategic direction for all Daniel Island Company development projects from concept to completion. He manages the design intent of the Company’s projects by directing consultants and making key design decisions throughout the life of the project. His role also includes responsibility for development of individual projects, resource planning and the professional development of staff.  Prior to joining The Daniel Island Company, McKenzie served as Vice President of Wild Dunes Development Corporation where he was responsible for all aspects of design and development for the resort’s real estate and hospitality divisions.

Carolyn Lancaster.

Carolyn Lancaster
Vice President, Marketing

Carolyn Lancaster is responsible for the development and implementation of all branding and marketing strategies for The Daniel Island Company and its subsidiaries. She directs and oversees an advertising agency, public relations consultants and an in-house staff of marketing and communications professionals on community positioning and branding initiatives as well as national and local advertising, promotions, interactive marketing, direct marketing, public relations, research and relationship marketing opportunities. Prior to joining The Daniel Island Company in 1999, Lancaster served as Director of Marketing for Kiawah Development Partners, the master developer of Kiawah Island, for 11 years.

James Bailey.

James J. Bailey, Jr
Vice President,
Community Service

Jimmy Bailey is responsible for all day-to-day operations of Daniel Island’s collective property owners' associations. In this role, he oversees the management and upkeep of all common property on Daniel Island, including parks, swimming pools, boat ramps, bike trails and other amenities. His office is also responsible for enforcing the rules and regulations put in place by the community’s Covenants, and serves as a communications link between island residents, businesses and the master developer. Bailey also serves as Administrator of the Daniel Island Community Fund, a private 501 (c) 4 organization that is financially supported by a Community Enhancement Fee on all resale transactions on the island that supports community enhancement programs and philanthropic initiatives on Daniel Island and in the surrounding communities.

Amy Pearson.

Amy Pearson
Chief Financial Officer

Amy Pearson is responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning and management for The Daniel Island Company and its affiliates. Under Pearson’s direction, financial accounting and reporting, budgeting, cash flow analysis, investment strategies, tax reporting, cash and debt management, and risk management activities are conducted for the Company and its various joint venture entities. Amy also oversees the company’s Human Resources and Information Systems departments. She is a licensed CPA in South Carolina. Prior to joining The Daniel Island Company, she was the Director of Finance at Roper Care Alliance, where she was responsible for all corporate and subsidiary accounting activities and financial planning for the health system. She also worked in public practice as an Audit Manager with Price Waterhouse in Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina.

Rick Vale.

Rick Vale
Vice President, Sales

As Vice President, Sales and the Broker-In-Charge at Daniel Island Real Estate, Rick Vale oversees all aspects of the company’s real estate sales operations. He directs a team of 18 sales associates and 15 staff members to manage the company’s listings, which include all builder spec homes and new homesites sold on the island as well as townhomes and condominiums. The company also represents the area’s largest inventory of resale properties on the island. Prior to joining the management team, Vale was a top sales associate with the company for more than five years. A Rhode Island native, he began his real estate career as a sales agent with I’On Realty in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. before joining Daniel Island Real Estate.

Greg Keating.

Vice President, Club Operations

Greg Keating oversees all operations for the Daniel Island Club, the private country club located in Daniel Island Park, Daniel Island’s golf-oriented neighborhood. A Class A PGA Professional and Certified Club Manager, Keating directs a team that manages the Club’s membership program, operations for two nationally-ranked golf courses and a golf learning center, food and beverage operations, special events, grounds maintenance and a recreation center that houses a state-of-the-art fitness center, two swimming pools and an 11-court tennis center and pavilion. In addition, Keating is also responsible for overseeing the club’s social and recreational programming. Prior to coming to Daniel Island, Keating held director of operations positions at Charter Oak Country Club and Charles River Country Club, both located in the greater Boston, Mass., area. He has been a resident of Daniel Island since relocating from the Boston area in 2002.
